Srinagar: National Conference General Secretary Ali Muhammad Sagar on Thursday exhorted party functionaries to work in tandem towards making party stronger at grass root level in order to take on the imminent challenges to the people of J&K.
Addressing party’s Zonal Presidents, District Presidents, and scores of parent body, YNC and Women’s Wing functionaries here at the party head quarters Nawa-e-Subha, Party General Secretary stressed on the party functionaries to maintain a good rapport with the party’s workers.
He said due representation and stake should be given to a worker and a delegate in decision making at all organizational levels in all the electoral segments. He said the political parties, cannot rely on their opinions in policy framing at any level in party. The top-down modus operandi in policy framing, Sagar said has no place in NC and for that matter in any democratic setup. For NC to deepen its roots ever than before, it is imperative for our zonal, district functionaries to work in tandem with party workers. He added that strengthening of the bottom-up model holds the key towards making the party stronger to take on the challenges in the future.
Among others Party’s Senior leader, MP Baramulla Muhammad Akbar Lone, Senior leader and Former Speaker Nazir Ahmed Khan Gurezi, Central Zone President Ali Muhammad Dar, South Zone President Dr Bashir Veeri, Provincial Vice President Syed Tauqeer Ahmed, Provincial Secretary Showkat Ahmed Mir, Provincial President Women’s Wing Er. Sabiya Qadri, Ahsan Pardesi, District President Srinagar Peer Afaq Ahmed, YNC Provincial President (K) Salman Ali Sagar, Women Wing Provincial Secretary Aisha Jameel, Mudassar Shahmiri, Dr Syed and Adv Shabir Ahmed were also present on the occasion.
As far as NC is concerned, it is set to fight a multi-front battle, Sagar said, “On one front it has to strive for an atmosphere, where basic needs of our people including development and job creation are addressed. On the other front it has to keep up its peaceful and constitutional fight for the restoration of peoples abridged rights. Our party has long been associated with the real political aspirations of the people; people are looking towards us to protect JK’s cultural, social, political frontiers and cultural individuality as ever before. To achieve this goal, the party’s moves have to be marked by collectivism and better coordination at all levels,” he said.
On the occasion, Sagar asked the zonal, and district functionaries to complete the process of membership drive by August so that the party could go ahead with the constitution of party units across Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh. On the occasion, the party General Secretary also restated his commitment on giving more proactive role to the youth particularly the women in the party activities. He also urged the functionaries to ensure equitable representation to minorities, tribals and other underprivileged classes in the party fold.
Later Party General Secretary visited the bereaved family of Late Bashir Ahmed Qadri at Reyazat Taing in Khanyar to share in the grief of the family on their bereavement. It is germane to mention here that Qadri Sahib had breathed his last the other day after brief illness. On the occasion Party President Dr Farooq Abdullah made a telephonic call to the sons of the deceased to express their grief. On the occasion the party general secretary offered Fateh for the deceased and prayed for peace to his soul in the highest echelons of Jannat.
