Srinagar: Police in Budgam on Saturday said that it has arrested a notorious timber smuggler and seized illicit timber along with horse near Panchayat Ghar Sugan area of Budgam.
In a statement issued here on Saturday police said that during night patrolling, a police party from Police Station Khag intercepted one person carrying illicit timber swans laden on a horse and was identified as Nazir Ahmed Lone son of Ghulam Qadir Lone resident of Sugan Khag.
Stating that illicit timber along with horse was seized, police in it’s statement further said that the above named accused has been arrested and shifted to police station where he remains in custody, stating in further that on his disclosure more illicit timber was recovered taking the total quantity to 30 Cfts.
In the concluding para of it’s statement police registered a case vide FIR No. 45/2021 under relevant sections of law at Police Station Khag and further investigation of the case is in progress.
