Drug peddler arrested in B’pora, Psychotropic substances recovered: Police

Srinagar: Police on Thursday said that it has arrested a drug peddler in Bandipora and also recovered psychotropic substances from his possession.
A police statement issued on Thursday said “acting on specific information, a police party from Police Station Sumbal at a checkpoint established at Shadipora arrested a drug peddler identified as Mohammad Younis Malla son of Mohammad Yaqoob Malla resident of Shilvat Sumbal”, adding that “during checking, officers recovered 40 bottles of codeine phosphate (100 ML each) and 576 banned Capsules from his possession following which he was shifted to police station where he remains in custody”.
Stating that a case FIR No. 55/2021 under relevant sections of law was registered in Police Station Sumbal and further investigation has been taken up, police in the above referred statement appealed people to come forward with any information regarding drug peddlers in their neighbourhood and warned that people found indulging in drug peddling will be dealt as per law, stating therein that actions against drug peddlers are taken to keep society free from the scourge of drug menace.
Covid-19: B’pora admin organises training-cum-awareness prog for BLOs, Village Level Response Teams
Bandipora: Deputy Commissioner Bandipora, Dr Owais Ahmad on Thursday inaugurated an online training-cum-awareness programme for Booth level Workers (BLOs) of three constituencies of the district.
The session was attended by Assistant Commissioner Revenue Parvaiz Rahim, BMO Dr Masarat Iqbal, BDO Mir Murtaza, District Epidemiologist Dr Nabeel Ishtiyaq while Nodal Officer COVID-19 Mehraj Wani virtually attended the programme along with more than 300 BLOs of the district.
The training session was held to constitute Village Level teams that shall mobilize the people for vaccination and create awareness among the masses regarding different aspects of covid-19 pandemic including precautions, SOPs and the vaccination. Online training was also imparted to the BLOs regarding registration of beneficiaries on Cowin App and other related technical matters.
Speaking on the occasion, the Deputy Commissioner urged the audience to educate themselves about the role and responsibility while performing their duties so that they shall be able to perform their duties effectively.
He said besides mobilizing the local population for vaccination, the BLOs shall also monitor home isolation of covid patients and suspects for effective implementation of SOPs.
The other issues which were discussed in the meeting include identification of Covid-19 vaccination sites, deployment of staff, holding of vaccination sessions on daily basis, uploading of beneficiaries on CoWin App, inter-sectoral coordination, and utilization of local influencer, besides involvement of PRIs in the vaccination drive.
The DDC stressed upon the concerned officers to ensure better coordination for smooth implementation of the Covid vaccination programme and follow the SOPs of Covid-19 strictly.
