2 drug peddlers in Srinagar and Budgam, Psychotropic substances recovered: Police

Srinagar: Police have arrested two drug peddlers in Srinagar & Budgam and recovered psychotropic substances from their possession.
A police statement issued on Wednesday said “In Srinagar, officers at a checkpoint established near Syed Mansoor Chowk intercepted a scooty bearing registration number JK01AE-4883 and identified the person riding the scooty has been identified as Mursal Amin Bhat resident of Sekidaffar Srinagar.
Stating that during checking, officers recovered huge quantity of psychotropic substance concealed in a polythene bag from the boot-space of scooty and the accused was arrested and shifted to police station where he remains in custody, Police in it’s statement further said “ Scooty used in the commission of crime has also been seized”, adding that “case FIR No. 04/2021 under relevant sections of law has been registered in Police Station Karan Nagar and investigation into the matter has been initiated”.
Police in it’s statement also said that in Kulgam, officers at a checkpoint established at Ghat Mohalla Narbal intercepted an individual identified as Gulzar Ahmed Bhat resident of Ghat Narbal and during checking recovered 48 bottles of Codeine Phosphate from his possession after which he was arrested and shifted to police station where he remains in custody”.
Saying that a case FIR No. 21/2021 under relevant sections of law has been registered in Police Station Magam and investigation into the matter has been initiated, police in the concluding para of it’s statement appealed people to come forward with any information regarding drug peddlers in their neighbourhood and warned that people found indulging in drug peddling will be dealt as per law, stating therein that “consistent actions against drug peddlers are taken to keep society free from the scourge of drug menace”.
