Kupwara: In an effort to reach out to the needy families 17 Inf Brigade Nowgam organises “Humanity on wheels” at Mawer village of Lawoosa, on Saturday at Middle school Lawoosa.
Being a unique initiative wherein the serving personnel of Army with an overwhelming response voluntarily contributed their personnel possessions/ belongings such as homemade food eatables and winter clothing to these needy villagers. More than 35 poor families were identified with help of locals, and daily essential items were distributed to these poor people by Army authorities assisted by local Sarpanch, Ward members of the area.
The drive became an attractive event for the youth of village too as a selfie corner established alongside saw a barrage of participants wanting themselves to be clicked which even saw a heavy footfall of elderly. The village elderly were medically checked by the team of Army’s Nursing Assistants and basic medicines were given to the ones suffering from cold related ailments.
The event, ‘Humanity on Wheels’ conveys that life can be changed only when motivation to live, grow and being happy exists and the change in society can definitely be brought with such ideas and initiatives. The drive received overwhelming response and gratitude from villagers who thanked the Nowgam Brigade for conceptualising and organising such initiative for their areas.
