Sumbal (B’pora): A complete shutdown was observed in Sumbal town of North Kashmir’s Bandipora district on Thursday against the Power Development Department over eratic electricity supply being provided to the area.
Eyewitnesses said that all the shops, commercial establishments were shut in the area while the traffic was also thin on the roads.
The shutdown call was given by the Traders Federation Sumbal.
As per local residents the shutdown was observed against PDD for unscheduled and long hours of power cuts in Sumbal and other adjoining villages since past several months which has left common people in doldrums.
Besides, the erratic power supply is giving tough time to local residents especially students appearing in different examinations.
Meanwhile, after assurance from administration that the matter will be solved within a stipulated time frame, the markets in the town opened in the evening.
