Baramulla: Assistant Regional Transport Officer (ARTO) Baramulla has in a letter to SSP Cyber Police Kashmir demanded an FIR against an RTI activist for allegedly defaming both his office and as well as himself in person.
The letter forwarded to SSP Cyber Police, Kashmir by ARTO Baramulla reads “One person namely Sirajudin Salam of Baramulla submitted an RTI application before APIO and same was replied within time framework. Now, he again tried to defame and malign the image of our organization by uploading a video through a local news agency QNS without verifying the facts.”
The letter also says that last time, the concerned person had uploaded a similar video and the same was brought into the notice of the SHO Cyber Police Station, Srinagar.
“It is pertinent to mention here that investigation agencies have every right to verify the facts but how can common person certify things with authority on social media defaming the organization especially me,” reads the letter.
The ARTO has impressed upon the SSP Cyber Police Kashmir to lodge an FIR in this connection and also certify the content of the uploaded video “so that justice prevails and we work with decorum and dignity.”
