B’Pora: People of various areas of Bandipora district have expressed concern over continued canine threat, saying packs of stray dogs roam around in the habitations creating panic among the locals.
Stray dogs have made life miserable for people in various parts of this district with parents shirking sending their wards to tuitions due to the ubiquitous presence of canines in the area.
Locals claimed that dogs bark throughout the night giving sleepless nights to the public. “We fear to move outside as dogs roam in packs. Especially during morning hours, dogs violently used to attack people moving along the roadside.
The dogs invade every lane and path, causing nuisance to the people, said residents of Bandipora town. The business community is finding it hard to grapple with the menace of stray dogs. “We do not have an estimate of the number of stray dogs in the town but we are sure their population is rising by every day,” Javid Ahmad, local businessman told.
Locals said that due to the fear of stray dogs, they are not sending their children to tuitions. “We are not taking risks to allow our wards to leave home for school,” they said.
Taking to Social Media, locals express anguish over the inaction by the Municipal Authorities. “Where are the people from the Municipal Council? Isn’t it there responsibility to keep vigil on these unfair, unethical and unlawful things in the town?” said one of the netizens alleging that the shopkeepers and Municipal jointly attract dogs in the market by dumping their waste in open space in Auto Stand Bandipora.
