Reduce probation period of Rehber-e-Khel to 2 yrs, seek committee report on physical teachers: JKAP’s Aijaz Khan

Reasi: Former Minister and Vice President Apni Party Aijaz Ahmed Khan today urged the Govt to reduce the probation period of Rehber-e-Khel and enhance their wages.
Khan was addressing a delegation of Rehber-e-Khel when it called on him and they highlighted their demands.
After hearing their concerns, Aijaz Ahmed Khan said that it was injustice with Rehbar-e-Khel in J&K who have been compelled to work on Rs 100 per day (Rs 3000 per month).
Khan expressed shock as to why the probation period has not been reduced even after so many representations to the Govt.
“The 7 years probation period is the exploitation of the employees employed in the Rehber-e-Khel. The Govt should reduce the probation period to 2 years and regularize those who have completed the compulsory 2 years of probation like it is done in other Govt services,” he said.
He said that “It is a violation of the rights of the Rehber-e-Khel teachers to be treated equally at par with other Govt servants.”
He appealed for the intervention of Lt Governor Manoj Sinha into the matter and demanded immediate reduction of probation period to 2 years, regularization of all those completed probation of 2 years, and enhancement of their wages.
“These teachers left no stone unturned while performing their duties and they stood shoulder to shoulder with the Government in fighting the deadly coronavirus which has consumed many lives,” said Khan.
He said that “These teachers are highly qualified possessing BP.ed, MP.ed, M.Phil, and Phd degree and it is very unfortunate that a Phd scholar is being paid Rs 100 a day while labourers earn more than Rs 600 a day.”
Khan said that it is not possible to fulfill the basic needs in Rs 100 especially when the majority of teachers are married and have families and they are not able to pay free in the schools of their children.
He reminded that the Lt Governor had constituted a high level committee comprising five members headed by Chief Secretary as its chairman on February 27, 2020 for re-examining the issues related to various schemes including Rehber-e-Khel scheme which was launched by previous Govt. “Unfortunately that committee has not submitted its report and appealed to the LG to seek a report from the committee on the Rehbar-e-Khel,” he added, expressing surprise over the poor response from the officials.
