Srinagar: Police in Ganderbal have arrested two bootleggers and recovered 30 bottles of illicit liquor from their possession.
Police in a statement issued here on Saturday said “Officers at a checkpoint established at Gulab Sheikh Crossing in the jurisdiction of Police Station Safapora intercepted an Alto car bearing registration number JK01R-4894 with two persons on board identified as Bagawan Patra resident of Odisha and Mushtaq Ahmad Rather resident of Ajas, Bandipora”.
Stating that during checking, officers recovered 30 bottles of illicit liquor from the said vehicle, Police in it’s statement said “ both the accused were arrested and shifted to Police Station Safapora where they remain in custody”, adding that “ the vehicle used in the commission of crime has also been seized”.
Police in it’s statement also said that a case FIR No. 01/2021 under relevant sections of law has been registered in Police Station Safapora and investigation into the matter has been initiated.
Vowing to continue such drives in future as well, Police in it’s statement resolved to act tough against inimical elements and asked people to come forward with any information regarding anti social elements in their neighbourhood. “Persons found indulging in anti social activities will be dealt as per law”, reads the concluding para of the police statement.
