Bandipora: A drug peddler was on Wednesday arrested in Sumbal area of Bandipora district and contraband substance was recovered from his possession in Trigam Sumbal.
A police statement issued on Wednesday said “ Acting on a specific information police party of P/S Sumbal led by SHO Sumbal Sajad Ahmad laid a surprise naka at Trigam and during checking a maruti car bearing registration No.JK05C-6263 was signalled to stop but the driver of the said vehicle jumping the naka point left his vehicle behind and escaped from the spot”.
Stating that during search of the car Charas powder weighing about 6 KG’s has been recovered, the police in it’s statement further said “ preliminary investigation revealed that the car was driven by one person namely Mehaj-ud-din Najar S/o Ab Gaffar Najar R/o Malpora Trigam Sumbal. Search for the accused person is going on”.
The police in it’s statement also said that a case FIR No.07/2021 under relevant sections of NDPS ACT has been registered in Police Station Sumbal and further investigation into the matter has been started.
