Srinagar:The Jammu and Kashmir National Conference on Saturday rued the administrative inertia in north Kashmir areas saying the sufferings of the people continue unabated due to the failure of the administration to grapple with snowfall aftermath.
Party’s Senior Leader, North Zone President and Member of Parliament Muhammad Akbar Lone, who on Saturday toured various north Kashmir hamlets, said the life in those areas had come to a grinding halt due to the failure of the administration to deal with snowfall aftermath. Lone toured the areas after receiving various SOS calls from the locals about the shortage of essentials and absence of other basic amenities to them post snowfall. Party MP made brief stopovers at Nisbal, Asham, Sumbal and Dangarpura, where the locals apprised him about the plethora of predicaments the local populace is facing due to the inaction of the local administration on snow clearance from roads and restoration of water and electricity supply to the entire belt. The people, while interacting with the honorable MP said that the scores of areas continue to remain inundated with water and sludge even weeks after receiving the recent snowfall. Locals at various places acquainted lone about the unaccountability in local primary and secondary health care centers saying the absence of medics and Paramedics was hitting the healthcare in their respective areas. Lone also traversed by foot to various hamlets and interacted with the people, whose households stand cut off from main arterials and roads days after the season’s first snowfall. He made brief stopovers at various interior areas, where the locals acquainted him about the skyrocketing prices of edibles. Lone assured the people that he will take up the issues concerning them at all appropriate forums to ensure its speedy mitigation. Later Lone addressed Party workers at Sumbal and exhorted them to lend helping hand to people affected by the snow furry. He impressed upon the local party brass to amplify their efforts and reach out to the needy during the prevailing crisis triggered by the recent heavy snowfall. He urged the local functionaries to visit the areas which have been highly impacted by snowfall in order to make their predicaments known to concerned agencies.
He said the unsavory statements of BJP, and its Team B is reflective of the frustration after being rejected by the people in the recent DDC elections. “Such statements reveal their abomination for democracy. The DDC election results have attested to the universal acceptance of its programme by people across Jammu and Kashmir. Having been trounced in the polls the Team B of the BJP, mostly led by serial turncoats resorted to horse trading by using all dishonest methods. However, on that front also, it had to meet with failure in spite of employing all coercive tactics. It couldn’t win even crossovers. PAGD led by Dr Sahib, on its part has received support from all sections of society across J&K. It stands stamped by the recent poll verdict of people as well,” he said.
