NC’s Jammu leaders assail ED action against Dr Farooq, terms it as political vendetta

Jammu: Senior National Conference leaders of Jammu province Monday assailed the attachment of properties of Dr Farooq Abdullah and described the action as a political vendetta aimed at weakening the premier political party of Jammu and Kashmir.

“The action speaks volumes about the desperation in the BJP rank and file on the face of National Conference further consolidating its roots in Jammu and Kashmir”, senior National Conference leaders said in a joint statement issued from Sher-e-Kashmir Bhavan here, adding that such coercive tactics would not deter the party, which is a mass movement.

“The timing of the unfortunate action at the conclusion of the Distract Development Council election makes it all the more murkier and raises questions on the intent of the BJP, which has now mastered in using the agencies for furthering its political agendas, the joint statement said, adding that the entire cadre of National Conference is behind Dr Farooq Abdullah at these testing times. The National Conference has always braved challenges with courage and fortitude and this time also the cadre is determined to brave the situation unitedly, the statement maintained.

The National Conference leaders expressed solidarity with Dr Farooq Abdullah, saying the BJP will fail in its machinations of maligning opponents and settling political scores by stooping too low.

The signatories to the joint statement included Provincial President Devender Singh Rana, Ajay Sadhotra, Surjeet Singh Salathia, Sardar Harbans Singh, Sajad Kichloo, Syed Mushtaq Bukhari, Javed Ahmed Rana, Khalid Najeeb Suharawardy, Ajaz Jan and others.

DDC contesting candidate from Gurez joins Apni Party, Altaf Bukhari joins them into the party fold

Srinagar: Ms. Suraya Rafiq an independent DDC contesting candidate from Gurez, district Bandipora alongwith her husband Feroze Iqbal Wani who is also a prominent social activist in Gurez on Monday joined Apni Party at its office in Lal Chowk, Srinagar. Party said in a statement

Hailing from the village of Gurez block Ms. Suraya, with a Bachelor’s degree is known for her socio-political activities in the area. Her husband, a prost graduate in Urdu was in the teaching profession but later switched over to social activism in Gurez.

The joining ceremony took place in presence of the Party President Syed Mohammad Altaf Bukhari, Party Provincial President Kashmir Mohammad Ashraf Mir, Party Media Advisor Farooq Andrabi and State Secretary and District President Budgam Muntazir Mohi-ud-Din.

On this occasion the new entrants pledged to work untiringly for strengthening of the Party and pledged to extend full cooperation in getting the people rid of the miseries in Gurez.

“We have opted for politics as a profession by choice. So after analyzing the Apni Party’s developmental agenda and comparing it with the rest in the political field, we arrived at a conclusion that we should extend our support to this Party and work under this banner,” Ms. Suriya observed.

Her husband remarked that it is the rational and realistic approach of the Apni Party President Syed Mohammad Altaf Bukhari that convinced them to join the Party.
“Before making our mind to join here, we analyzed the performance and political rhetoric of other traditional parties. We realized that other political forums have been responsible not only for the political uncertainty in J&K but for the underdevelopment of Gurez valley,” Wani added.
Speaking on the occasion, Apni Party President Syed Mohammad Altaf Bukhari while welcoming the new entrants into the Party-fold said that his party is determined to work indefatigably for equitable development in all the regions and sub regions of Jammu and Kashmir.
“I understand the unexplored potential of the Gurez Valley. The nature has not only bestowed it with serene picturesque but also made it resourceful for costly spices. I alongwith my party colleagues pledge to work for the betterment of lives of inhabitants of Gurez valley who have faced all odds but never shied away from participating in democratic processes,” Bukhari added.
