Srinagar: The houseboat at Abi Guzar, in river jhelum has collapsed in the intervening night of Wednesday-Thursday as a result of the family is living under open sky.
Witnessed said the houseboat collapsed at around 2.00 A.M in the night intervening Wednesday and Thursday as a result of which the family has suffered a heavy loss. “The family suffered tremendous loss due to the collapse of the houseboat” said Muhammad Yaqoob Dunoo the spokesman of Kashmir House Boat Owners Association (KHBOA), adding that “ the rush of water into residential houseboat didn’t allow the family members to save the essentials”. He said “ the family consists four daugters ,two sons, husband and wife were present in the houseboat when it sunk”, adding that “the neighbours risked their lives and saved them”.
Saying that now the family has been rendered homeless and lives under open sky Dunoo appealed the central government of India and LG administration to extend financial assistance to the devastated family to help it renovate it’s family houseboat again.
