Srinagar: Police in Srinagar have arrested a notorious drug peddler and recovered psychotropic substance from his possession.
Officers in the jurisdiction of Police Station Shaheed Gunj arrested a notorious drug peddler identified as Nawaz Ahmad Sheikh resident of Doodganga Nallah Balgardan Srinagar. During checking, officers were able to recover 2550 Tablets of Alprazolam from his possession. He has been arrested and shifted to Police Station Shaheed Gunj where he remains in custody.
A case FIR No. 135/2020 under relevant sections of law has been registered in Police Station Shaheed Gunj and investigation has been initiated.
Police has appealed people to come forward with any information regarding drug peddlers in their neighbourhood and warned that people indulging in drug peddling will be dealt as per law.
People also said that consistent actions against drug peddlers should reassure the community members that it is making efforts to keep our society free from the scourge of drug menace.
