Bandipora Police arrests 6 gamblers, stake money seized

Srinagar: Bandipora Police Thursday arrested six gamblers from a gambling site and seized stake money.
A joint Police party from Police Post Nowgam and Police Station Sumbal raided a gambling site in Check Ganastan following an input about gambling activities and apprehended six gamblers. They have been identified as Mohd Maqbool Naikoo, Syed Reyaz Shah, Imtiyaz Hussain Ganaie, Mohammad Qasim Dar all residents of Nowgam Sumbal, Mohammad Shafi Bhat resident of Zaripora Tergam and Mohammad Haneef Dar residents of Gund Khalil Trigam.
Officers have seized playing cards and stake money of ₹7600/- from the gamblers. They have been arrested and shifted to Police Station Sumbal where they remain in custody.
A case FIR No. 162/2020 under relevant sections of law has been registered in Police Station Sumbal and investigation has been initiated. Persons found indulging in criminal activities shall be dealt as per law. Community members are requested to share information regarding the crimes in their neighbourhood with the local police units.
