Jammu: Director Jammu and Kashmir Innovative Foundation for Transforming Society(JKIFTS), Dr Tasaduk Hussain Itoo Friday said that we have come a long way in containing the Covid-19 pandemic but people must take necessary precautions while getting back to routine life.
He said that it is very concerning to see people discrediting necessary precautionary measures and getting to routine works without wearing face masks and avoiding physical distancing wherever necessary.
He said that while the Govt. is unlocking the lockdown in series of “Unlocks” in India permitting routine activities back to normal, it is imperative that people should not lower the guard and should stay, awake, serious and cautious without exercising any kind of leniency.
He said that though many countries are facing second wave of the pandemic, with the Graces of Almighty, world has come a long way in containing it with improvement to its treatment and decreasing its mortality.
“I could see a lot of difference while doing duty in Covid wards then and now. The patients are getting stabilized and responding to scientifically- researched treatment well, though world is yet to get an effective vaccine. The mortality has decreased and the moderate to severe covid patients who earlier used to get on invasive ventilation easily are now getting better even on high flow oxygen for few days, not needing invasive ventilation procedures in most cases. The hospital stays of the patients have decreased markedly. Hopefully world will achieve herd immunity sooner than later.” Dr Tasaduk said while talking to Kashmir Horizon.
“As the battle against Covid-19 pandemic seems bit long, re-imposing lockdown is not a sustainable solution taking into consideration the economic downfall and difficulties in human sustainability for long especially in developing countries, rather people have to behave like responsible citizens while getting back to routine normal life in the long run.”, he said.
“Elderly people and patients who are suffering from comorbidities like Diabetes, Heart diseases, Cancer, Lung diseases and others- should be taken extra care and not allowed to move out unless necessary”, he said.
“People should avoid crowds and maintain physical distance, wear face masks, do hand-washing with soap and adhere to all necessary precautions at public places”, he said.
He added that people should adhere to healthy diet, do daily mindful exercises and meditation, ensure good sleep and other stress- free and immune- boosting activities to stay healthy in all aspects of health- physically, psychologically, socially and morally.
