Srinagar/Oct,5 : Chairman Jammu and Kashmir Civil Society Forum (JK CSF) has taken a dig at the government for having not paid any remuneration to the medicos re-engaged after retirement during the crisis of Covid-19 pandemic till date saying therein that these re-engaged retired medicos are. rendering their services untiringly for the cause they were re-engaged for.
In a statement issued here on Monday Wani said that while facing acute shortage of manpower amid COVID-19 crisis, the Jammu and Kashmir Health and Medical Education Department had decided to re-engage retired Medical Officers (MOs), consultants, senior consultants, paramedical and nursing staff on contractual basis in March this year
As many posts of paramedical and nursing staff were found vacant since past 2-3 years. Reminding that owing to crisis triggered by COVID-19, J&K Health & Medical Education department government had decided to re-engage retired paramedical and nursing staff of Government Medical College and Hospitals of Jammu and Srinagar as revealed in records too, Wani said “govt had said then that these medicos and paramedics and nurses were being engaged for the period of one year in view of the extraordinary situation that had arisen due to the spread of COVID-19” .
Reminding that proper sanction was accorded to the contractual appointment of those faculty members, paramedical and nursing staff in Government Medical Colleges, at Srinagar and Jammu, Wani said doctors (Medical Officers, Consultants and Senior Consultants), paramedical and nursing staff in the Health Services Department, Kashmir and Jammu, retired and re-engaged after Covid-19 breakout are yet to get their dues for the period in question
Wani said since these retired doctors and paramedics have been serving the humanity in compliance with the govt orders in the larger interst of the society but irony is that now when the public outcry has settled govt does bother to pay wages to these warriors.
Alleging that not even a single penny has been paid to these warriors who are retired and have to take care of their families amid COVID-19 spread, Wani urged the government to release wages to all the retired health warriors re-engaged after the outbreak of COVID-19 in March this year.
