LG visits Jagti Township, listens to issues of KPs

Jammu: Welfare of every section of the society and each community, besides safeguarding the rights of the people of J&K is the topmost priority of the UT Government.
The Lieutenant Governor, Manoj Sinha made these remarks during his visit to the Jagti Township, which was the latest in the series of taking first hand appraisal of the issues of the people.
To bring a new era of development in J&K, the present Government is working on the agenda of equitable and holistic development, the Lt Governor maintained.
The residents of Jagti Township apprised the Lt Governor about various welfare issues of Kashmir Pandit community including permanent rehabilitation of Kashmiri Pandits, enhancement of relief amount, financial package of KPs for facilitating entrepreneurship and business, compensation for damaged properties in Kashmir, retrieval of encroached properties in Kashmir etc.
The residents submitted a written memorandum to the Lt Governor flagging various issues of importance. They also flagged the issues of political reservation to KPs and demanded more townships for remaining families of migrants.
The Lt Governor, while interacting with the people there, assured them that all the genuine issues and demands projected by them would be looked into meticulously for their early redressal.
The Lt Governor observed that he would examine the issues raised by the people and assured them that instead of making hollow promises and announcements, he would genuinely and rationally try to address the problems being faced by the people.
The UT Government is taking comprehensive measures to ensure prompt redressal of people’s grievances, besides improving public service delivery mechanism with progressively increasing citizens’ participation at all levels, through transparent and accountable governance, he added.
The Lt Governor was accompanied by Sanjeev Verma, Divisional Commissioner, Jammu; Mukesh Singh, IGP Jammu; Simrandeep Singh, Special Secretary to the Government, Department of Disaster Management, Relief, Rehabilitation and Reconstruction; Sushma Chauhan, Deputy Commissioner Jammu; Shridhar Patil, SSP Jammu; T. K. Bhat, Relief and Rehabilitation Commissioner and other senior officers.
