Srinagar: Chairman People’s Democratic Front (PDF), Hakeem Mohammmad Yaseen on Monday hit out at the Central Government for notifying new rules for allocation of powers between and government business between legislature, LG of the Union Territory and Centre notified on 28th of this month, terming these as totally flawed and a bizzer onslaught on the soul of democracy. He said these rules would undermine the constitutional and democratic authorities of the state Legislature , whenever in place.
In a statement issued on Monday, Hakeem said that new rules notified by the Center to allocate powers between executive , state legislature and the L.G of Jammu and Kashmir would divest the elected public representatives , of their constitutional and democratic powers and make them redundant. ” Under the new rules, most of the powers of legislators have been vested with the Lieutenant Governor, whereas Center has extended its tentacles even over the internal administrative authority of the state government”, Hakeem said while terming the new move of the Central government as flawed and a sinister game plan to convert the erstwhile j&k state into a colony.
PDF Chairman said that the people of Jammu and Kashmir were much concerned and apprehensive about the Central government proposed plans to undermine the special identify and status of Jammu and Kashmir especially after August 5, last year when Art. 370 and 35-A were unilaterally and unconstitutionally scraped in a sudden swoop. He has enjoined upon the Central government to desist from playing with the sentiments of the people of jammu and Kashmir as it would serve no purpose and will only cause further alienation and disengagement . ” It would be in the overall interests of the country to address socio-political aspirations of the people,” Hakeem maintained while urging for restoration of political process , democratically elected government in Jammu and Kashmir with proposed legislature and executive
