Jawaid Iqbal

Allah (swt), the Almighty, the most beneficent and the most merciful has created this universe along with all the living and non-living creatures. Among all the creatures, only human is supreme in qualities characters and as Muslims we have full faith in it. Our Holy Islam teaches us how we should behave, eat, do work and cooperate with each other. There is not a single aspect of life which had not been mentioned in Islam and in our Holy Qur’an. The Qur’an says “The “Verse of Brotherhood” (Arabic: آیة الاخوة‎, romanized: Āyat al-Ukhuwah) is the tenth verse of the Quranic chapter “Al-Hujurat”. The verse is about the brotherhood of believers which says: “The believers are but brothers, so make settlement between your brothers. Our Holy Prophet Mohammad (saw) and his companions faced so many hurdles and difficulties in passing the messages of Allah (swt) to mankind. Our Holy Prophet Mohammad (saw) treated his enemies in an affectionate manner. Even millions of scholars, authors and writers cannot write the virtues of our beloved prophet in millions of books as books will fall short and the ink will dry but the virtues will not end. There are in numerous qualities of our beloved messenger, just I am quoting one here. Narrated Jabir bin Abdullah (r.a), we took part in the Ghazwa of Najd along with Allah’s Messenger (Sallallahu Alayhi wassallam) and when the time for the afternoon rest approached while he was in a valley with plenty of thorny trees, he dismounted under a tree and rested in its shade and hung his sword (on it). The people dispersed beneath the trees in order to have shade. While we were in this state, Allah’s Messenger (Sallallahu Alayhi wassallam) called us and we came and found a bedouin sitting in front of him. The Prophet (Sallallahu Alayhi wassallam) said, “This (Bedouin) came to me while I was asleep, and he took my sword stealthily. I woke up while he was standing by my head, holding my sword without its sheath. He said, ‘Who will save you from me?’ I replied, ‘Allah.’ Then something forced him to drop his sword. I then picked up the sword and said: “who will protect you from me”.
But Allah’s Messenger (Sallallahu Alayhi wassallam) did not punish him. It is what we were supposed to be, but what we are. Are we having sympathetic attitudes, are we having such qualities, are we obeying Allah properly, are we forgiving our friends or enemies, obviously not so! Why?
Let me answer……Ego…Though there are many reasons for becoming outlaws to the principles of Islam as humans, we are getting more and more egoists and having an attitude of none. We are thinking that we have got a luxurious life; we have got bank balance, the tall buildings and what not.
