EJAC meet presided over by Aijaz Khan takes slew of decisions on resumption of duties, asks Govt to provide arrangements for hassle free attdndancr

Srinagar: The Employees Joint Action Committee (EJAC) during a meeting with several trade union leaders and other stake holders decided to advise general public not to attend government offices in view of the increasing COVID-19 pandemic spread and also urge employees to use masks, sanitizers besides following other precautionary measures like washing hands frequently with soap and maintain distancing as per guidelines of the government’s health specialists.
A statement issued after the meeting held under the chairmanship of Aijaz Ahmad Khan the President Employees Joint Consultative Committee Jammu and Kashmir (EJCC JK) and President CAPD Employees Association said that as per govt Orders from today onwards employees will be advised to take extra precautions during duty hours, wear masks, use sanitizer, wash hands frequently, maintain social distance and avoid direct touch with files, chairs, tables etc. The employees will also be impressed upon not to come in direct contact of children, old aged members and family members suffering illness immediately and try to identify a separate room for changing clothes etc.
“Employees with underlying ailments, those in old age and pregnant ladies will bring it to the notice of immediate officers to allow them to work from home as per Government Advisory.”, reads the statement.
It was also stressed that accommodation, transport and other facilities whenever and wherever required would be sought from the government and simultaneously general public would be simultaneously advised not visit government offices unless and there is not any pressing compulsion to visit any particular government office.
The meeting also resolved that Govt Orders regarding resumption of duties on daily basis amid lockdown is very difficult without entry passes as the same will result in much inconveniences and hardship to employees. The meeting observed that It would be difficult for employees to reach the offices in prevailing circumstances by covering long distance “to and fro” on daily basis as around 90 percent employees lack personal transportation facility and therefore heavily rely on public transport which is totally unavailable amid lockdown. Saying that employees residing in far off rural areas direly need residential accommodation as well, the statement further said that government is appealed to provide all necessary arrangement for the shuttling of such employees who don’t have their own convenience and are supposed to travel longer distances to reach their offices. The meeting also noted with concern the fact that only option under these circumstances is to use schedule or duty roaster as was in vogue upto recent past to minimize gathering and practice social distance and to run officessmoothly.
