Srinagar/May,26: Governor N. N. Vohra Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti and Deputy Chief Minister Nirmal Singh have in their separate statements greeted the people on the commencement of the holy month of Ramzan and hoped that this auspicious period would be a harbinger of peace, amity, communal harmony, brotherhood, progress and prosperity in the State.
In a message, the Governor said the holy month of Ramzan is a period dedicated to fasting, service and prayers and highlights the values of patience, self-restraint, tolerance and austerity, which promote feelings of compassion and respect for others. The Governor prayed for the well-being of the people of the State.
Felicitating people on the eve of the commencement of the holy month of Ramadan Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti in her message of greetings hoped the holy month marks the beginning of an era free from difficulties, uncertainty, bloodshed and acrimony. “I pray that this holy month brings along all the divine blessings for our state and its people”, the Chief Minister prayed in her message.
Mehbooba Mufti appealed people to pray wholeheartedly during this month and seek His blessings and forgiveness. “This is a month of limitless mercies from The Creator and let us bow before Him in Prayers, remember the helpless during fasting and seek His mercy in the night long prayers”, she said hi her message.
Terming Ramadhan as a month of charity and compassion, Mehbooba Mufti appealed the well to do sections of society to donate generously for the social causes during this month. “Please remember during this month the widows, orphans, destitute, infirm and those who are unable to fend for themselves”, she said in her appeal.
Greeting people on the eve of the commencement of the holy month of Ramadan Deputy Chief Minister Dr Nirmal Singh said “I extend my greetings to the Muslim brethren as the holy month of Ramzan commences. May the blessed month bring peace and happiness in everyone’s lives,” Dr Singh said.
He said Ramzan is a period of patience, piety, forgiveness, compassion and devotion to the service of humankind.
He hoped that the auspicious month will be harbinger of peace, communal harmony, amity, brotherhood and prosperity for the people of the State.
