Distt Admin Kupwara on forefront to minimize migrant labourer’s difficulties

Kupwara: District Administration Kupwara has made all possible efforts to minimize the difficulties of those migrant labourers who have stranded in different areas of the district during lockdown, aimed at to contain the spread of dreaded Corona virus, COVID-19 pandemic.
The Administration designated Assistant Labour Commissioner (ALC), Kupwara, Arshad Qadir as Nodal Officer for stranded migrant labourers of district Kupwara at the initial stage of the lockdown.
The Nodal Officer along with officials of Labour and Revenue Department conducted a survey across the district and identified 1680 labourers, hailing from different states of the country are stranded in the district.
Giving details of ration etc, the Nodal Officer said 170 quintal rice and 2.5 quintal aatta have been distributed among these migrant labourers so far at doorsteps of their locations, besides, 22quintal dal, 15 quintal salt, 1300 liter oil, 800 kg milk powder, 2500 kg chilli powder, 200 kg turmeric powder, 1300 kg sugar and 650 kg Lipton Tea. The labourers were also provided cooking gas and 1000 masks and 20 bottles of sanitizer.
The Nodal Officer further informed that six relief camps and shelters have been established at Government Middle School (GMS) Kralgund, GMS Langate, GMS Wadipora, GMS Villigam, Government High School (GHS) Zachaldara and GMS Qalamabad where 110 Migrant workers are being facilitated with proper shelter, ration and other essential commodities.
The medical facilities were also provided to these migrants labourers during the lockdown as and when required.
The labourers were also given proper counseling regarding maintenance of personal hygiene, frequent hand washing, usage of masks and observation of social distancing.
The labourers have applauded the district administration for their best efforts in providing all logistic support, besides, ration and other essential commodities.
