Srinagar | Nov,7 : The mortal remains of Adnan Altaf Rathar, a Kashmiri student who passed away in Bangladesh on November 4, are expected to arrive in Srinagar on Sunday, sources said.
Repatriation procedures have reached their final phase, leaving only final packing and official handover remaining. Government intervention facilitated the process, with Chief Minister Omar Abdullah reaching out to the Ministry of External Affairs and Health Minister Sakina Itoo requesting central support from Union Minister J P Nadda, officials said.
Jammu and Kashmir Students Association (JKSA) National Convenor Nasir Khuehami noted that mandatory embalming procedures experienced brief delays due to official holiday schedules in Bangladesh. “We are hopeful that the remaining formalities, including packing and handover to the family, will be completed by Sunday morning. Subject to their completion and flight arrangements, we expect Adnan’s mortal remains to reach India on Sunday,” Khuehami stated.
Khuehami added that Chief Minister’s Advisor Nasir Aslam Wani assured full assistance, confirming an ambulance will transport the deceased directly from Srinagar Airport to his hometown in Sopore, reports said.
