Heavy Vehicles Restricted From Jammu; Priority For Fruit Trucks

Srinagar | October, 29: Heavy traffic will not be allowed from Jammu towards Srinagar during the Darbar Move movement on October 31 and November 1, while fruit-laden trucks will be prioritized, Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Traffic Kashmir Haseeb Ur Rehman stated.
Talking to reporters, officials said a dedicated plan has been framed to ensure smooth passage for official vehicles. “We have kept special provisions for fruit trucks. If the road is closed, we assemble them on the front line so that we can send them to Jammu on priority,” Rehman explained.
Traffic authorities reported that movement along key routes, including the Srinagar-Jammu National Highway, has remained smooth under clear weather, though rain or snow could alter conditions. Commuters were advised to monitor official updates via social media or contact the Traffic Control Unit at 103.
Addressing urban congestion in Srinagar, traffic officials attributed delays to rising vehicle volume and noted government plans to enhance parking and road infrastructure. Proposed initiatives include new flyovers extending from Batmaloo towards Bemina, Dalgate towards Pandach, and two additional structures along the bypass. Officials clarified that security checkpoints and barricades are set up strictly based on intelligence inputs and not to cause unnecessary delay.
