PULWAMA, OCTOBER 30: Khet Bachao Abhiyan, which commenced on October 22, 2026, concluded today with a series of coordinated farmer outreach and awareness activities across Pulwama district.

The concluding day also featured activities connected with the release of the 24th instalment of Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-KISAN) by the Hon’ble Prime Minister, with the proceedings followed through live telecast.

As part of the campaign, the Chief Agriculture Officer, Pulwama, coordinated the observance of Khet Bachao Abhiyan across the district and issued a calendar for its observance in each Agriculture Zone, facilitating a structured programme of farmer-oriented activities throughout the campaign period.

On the concluding day, programmes were organised at Town Hall Tral and Town Hall Awantipora under the leadership of ADC Tral and ADC Awantipora, respectively. The main district-level programme was organised at Circuit House, Pulwama, under the chairmanship of District Development Commissioner, Pulwama, Kuldeep Krishan Sidha, with farmers participating in large numbers along with district officers and officials from the Agriculture, Horticulture and allied departments.

The farmer gatherings held under the campaign were utilised for saturation of AgriStack IDs, dissemination of information regarding agriculture-related schemes and services, Census-related activities and sensitisation against drug abuse. Farmers were also sensitised against the cultivation of poppy and other narcotic plants and encouraged to contribute towards efforts aimed at combating drug abuse.

A special focus was laid on the PM-KISAN saturation drive, under which eligible farmers and beneficiaries were identified and verified, while pending issues were taken up for resolution as per the prescribed guidelines.

The campaign also witnessed effective inter-departmental coordination and Information, Education and Communication (IEC) activities, with concerned line departments working together to disseminate information regarding PM-KISAN, the 24th instalment and other agriculture-related schemes and initiatives.

The programmes witnessed participation of district officers and officials from the Agriculture, Horticulture and allied departments, who extended support to the campaign and undertook necessary field-level activities within their respective jurisdictions.

The conclusion of the Khet Bachao Abhiyan marked a coordinated district-wide effort towards strengthening farmer outreach, facilitating beneficiary saturation and verification, promoting awareness about government schemes and ensuring effective convergence among departments for improved delivery of services and benefits to the farming community.
