Srinagar | Oct 27:Chief Secretary, Atal Dulloo, Tuesday administered the Integrity Pledge to Administrative Secretaries, officers and officials at the Civil Secretariat, marking the observance of Vigilance Awareness Week 2026, being observed from October 26 to November 1 under the theme ‘Probity for Prosperity’.
The Chief Secretary led a commitment ceremony for officers and officials, emphasizing the importance of integrity, honesty, transparency, and professional ethics in their official duties. This pledge highlighted the necessity for collaborative efforts among the government, citizens, and private institutions to address corruption, which hinders the nation’s economic, social, and political advancement. Public servants were urged to maintain vigilance and ensure their actions align with principles of probity, accountability, and public service. Dulloo, addressing the attendees, asserted that integrity and transparency should be foundational to public administration. He called for enhanced accountability mechanisms across departments, transparent service delivery, and prioritization of timely resolution of public grievances. The Chief Secretary reaffirmed the government’s zero-tolerance stance on corruption, urging Administrative Secretaries and departmental heads to actively review and address pending vigilance issues in accordance with established protocols. Furthermore, he encouraged all officials to perform their duties with honesty and impartiality, uphold the rule of law, and prioritize public interest in administrative decisions. The Vigilance Awareness Week aims to foster ethical conduct, bolster public trust in institutions, and promote shared responsibility in combating corruption. Similar pledge-taking events and awareness initiatives are being organized throughout the Union Territory, including at divisional and district levels, public sector undertakings, and educational institutions, to reinforce the commitment to integrity and cultivate a culture of transparency and accountability in public life.
