Sidha stresses focused efforts to boost employment, expedite credit-linked cases and strengthen field-level enforcement

Pulwama :District Development Commissioner (DDC) Pulwama, Kuldeep Krishan Sidha, Tuesday  chaired a review meeting to assess the progress and implementation of various programmes and initiatives of the Labour & Employment Department in the district.

A detailed presentation was made covering employment initiatives, registrations, applications, credit-linked schemes, labour welfare and enforcement activities.

The DDC sought a concise assessment of the employment scenario in the district, including identification of unemployed persons, progress under Mission Yuva and Mumkin schemes, employment fairs, employment initiatives and the results achieved through these interventions.

He particularly sought a stage-wise breakup of employment and credit-linked applications, including cases pending with banks and the specific reasons for pendency.

The department informed that 4,795 cases had been approved by the DLIC, 3,021 loans sanctioned and 2,778 loans disbursed. The DDC sought reasons for the gap between approval, sanction and disbursement and directed that the status of every pending case be identified.

The DDC directed that eligible loans are to be disbursed within seven days, wherever all requisite formalities have been completed, with a further review of pending applications within the next three days.

The DDC highlighted the employment potential of Pulwama in dairy, saffron, poultry, tourism, harvesting and post-harvest technology, and stressed convergence with concerned departments to develop livelihood opportunities in these areas, with particular attention to women, vulnerable groups and other sections requiring employment support.

The department was also asked to initiate district-level skill mapping from next month, using a prescribed proforma, to identify available skills, skill gaps and emerging employment opportunities.

While reviewing the enforcement measures and drives conducted by the department, the DDC sought detailed statistics regarding child labour cases and asked the concerned authorities to demonstrate progress within seven days. He directed that a calendar of field inspections be prepared covering markets, business establishments and other establishments under the department’s jurisdiction, with staff and supervisors maintaining regular field presence.
