Srinagar | October 17: Inspector General of Police (IGP) Kashmir Sujit Kumar Singh on Saturday directed all police stations across Kashmir Zone to adopt SMART Policing and Digital Beat Policing as an integral part of their day-to-day operations to ensure modern, efficient, and citizen-centric governance.
Chairing a high-level conference with senior officers IGP Kumar said that the initiative aims to transform police stations into transparent, accountable, and accessible institutions while accelerating the delivery of public services. The IGP Kashmir emphasized the core SMART principles—Strict & Sensitive, Modern & Mobile, Alert & Accountable, Reliable & Responsive, and Techno-savvy & Trained—stressing that they must shape the everyday working culture of the force. Under the Digital Beat Policing framework, Beat Officers will maintain continuous field presence and update beat-level records on digital platforms to extend policing to the last mile. District Police Heads and supervisory officers were instructed to personally monitor ground-level implementation, tech-driven service delivery, and beat-level public engagement across the zone.
