Train to halt at Samba, Bari Brahmana and Martyr Captain Tushar Mahajan stations
Jammu, October 16: The Ministry of Railways has approved the extension of the Sabarmati–Jammu Tawi Express up to Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra, providing direct rail connectivity for pilgrims travelling from Gujarat and other states to the Mata Vaishno Devi shrine.
The extension of Train Nos. 19223/19224 will come into effect from October 18 from Sabarmati and October 20 from Katra, Northern Railway’s Jammu Division said in a press release.
The railway authorities have also approved additional halts for the train at Samba, Bari Brahmana and Martyr Captain Tushar Mahajan stations, extending long-distance rail connectivity to residents, students, traders and military personnel in these areas.
The additional halt at Bari Brahmana is expected to benefit passengers travelling to and from the area’s industrial hub.
The extension will enable pilgrims travelling from Gujarat, Rajasthan, Haryana and Punjab to reach Katra directly by train without changing trains at Jammu Tawi. The service will also connect Katra with several cities along the route, including Bathinda, Firozpur, Jalandhar and Pathankot.
According to the revised schedule, Train No. 19223 will depart from Sabarmati at 10:25 am and reach Jammu Tawi at 3:35 pm on the second day before arriving at Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra at 6:55 pm.
On the return journey, Train No. 19224 will depart from Katra at 4:50 am and reach Jammu Tawi at 7:40 am.
The railway division said the extension is aimed at improving passenger convenience and strengthening connectivity for religious tourism, trade and employment along the route.
Passengers have been advised to check the detailed schedule and other information on the official Indian Railways website or through the National Train Enquiry System (NTES) before travelling.
