Sharma directs speedy installation of Rooftop Solar panels

Poonch :District Development Commissioner Poonch, Ashok Kumar Sharma, Friday chaired a meeting to assess the progress and implementation of the PM Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana in the district, with a focus on accelerating rooftop solar installations and ensuring that eligible households benefit from the flagship initiative.

During the meeting, the Deputy Commissioner reviewed the status of applications received, rooftop solar systems installed, subsidy disbursements and challenges affecting the implementation of the scheme. The concerned officers briefed the chair on the progress achieved so far and the steps being taken to facilitate wider coverage across the district.

Emphasising the importance of clean and renewable energy, the Deputy Commissioner directed the concerned departments and stakeholders to intensify their efforts and expedite the installation of rooftop solar systems. He stressed the need for coordinated action, regular monitoring and time-bound implementation to ensure that the benefits of the scheme reach all eligible households.

The Deputy Commissioner called for a comprehensive public awareness campaign to educate people about the benefits of rooftop solar energy, the registration process, available financial assistance and the procedure for availing the scheme. He directed the concerned agencies to provide proper guidance and handholding to applicants, particularly those facing difficulties during registration and installation.

Stressing the need for efficient service delivery, he called for timely processing of applications, prompt resolution of public grievances and close coordination among all stakeholders to remove bottlenecks and improve the pace of implementation.

The PM Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana is a Government of India initiative aimed at promoting rooftop solar power in residential households, reducing electricity expenditure and encouraging the adoption of clean energy. The scheme seeks to empower eligible households through financial assistance for rooftop solar installations, contributing to energy savings and environmental sustainability.

The Deputy Commissioner reiterated that the concerned departments must work with dedication and a result-oriented approach to maximise public participation and ensure effective implementation of the scheme in District Poonch.
