Capt. Nistish Arora shares essential steps towards becoming a commercial pilot

Srinagar : The Centre for Career Counseling, Coaching and Placement (CCCP) at the University of Kashmir (KU) on Thursday hosted a groundbreaking day-long workshop titled ‘Pilot Training & Career Pathways in Aviation’ at the Main Campus.

Addressing the event, Vice-Chancellor Prof. Nilofer Khan stressed the importance of guiding students as they explore new career avenues. “It’s crucial for students to be aware of the opportunities that lie beyond traditional career paths. By connecting with industry professionals, our students can gain valuable insights into emerging fields like aviation, helping them make informed decisions that align with their interests and aspirations,” she remarked. Registrar Prof. Naseer Iqbal also spoke about the need to expand students’ horizons in specialized professional areas. He pointed out that initiatives like this are vital for helping students grasp the skills, qualifications, and practical preparations necessary for a variety of career paths. The keynote address was delivered by Capt. Nistish Arora, a seasoned aviation expert and the Founder of November Alpha Aviation Academy (NAAA) in Mumbai. He elaborated on the different stages of pilot training and what it takes to break into the profession. Capt. Arora provided insights on pilot eligibility, the requirements set by the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA), medical exams, licensing, and flying training opportunities both in India and abroad, as well as how to prepare for a career with airlines. He also highlighted the various career options available in aviation, emphasizing the need for careful planning, accurate information, and a solid understanding of the financial and academic commitments involved in pilot training. The workshop concluded with an engaging Q&A session, where students had the chance to ask questions about training pathways, eligibility criteria, and career prospects.
