Kulgam : Police on Thursday seized 10 vehicles involved in illegal mining across Kulgam district and registered multiple FIRs as part of an intensified drive against unlawful extraction of minerals.
In a statement issued here on Thursday, Police said the seized vehicles included seven tractors, two tippers, and one dumper seized from different areas falling under Police Stations Kulgam, Qazigund, DH Pora, and Police Post Mirbazar. The vehicles were found involved in the illegal extraction and transportation of minerals without valid authorization and in violation of prescribed norms. The vehicles have been seized and FIRs have been registered under relevant provisions of law for further investigation. In its statement Police reiterated its commitment to protect natural resources and take strict legal action against those involved in illegal mining, appealing people therein to cooperate and report such unlawful activities, with an assurance that the identity of informants will be kept strictly confidential.
