Mansbal : The two-day national workshop titled “Reimagining Higher Education Administration for Viksit Bharat@2047,” hosted by the Central University of Kashmir (CUKashmir) in partnership with the Association of Indian Universities (AIU), wrapped up on Tuesday.
During the event, Vice-Chancellor Prof. A. Ravinder Nath took the stage to present the Institutional Development Plan (IDP), emphasizing its role as a strategic blueprint for preparing higher education institutions for the future. He pointed out that institutional development should go beyond just building infrastructure; it should also focus on achieving academic excellence, fostering research, engaging with the community, developing human resources, promoting entrepreneurship, and ensuring environmental sustainability. Prof. A. Ravinder Nath elaborated that a successful IDP needs to align the institution’s vision and goals with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 and the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. He stressed the importance of having a long-term vision, complemented by medium- and short-term plans, measurable targets, and regular reviews. This kind of planning should come from extensive consultations with stakeholders and a realistic evaluation of the institution’s needs, available resources, and capacity gaps. The Vice-Chancellor also highlighted the academic and social responsibilities of universities. He insisted that higher education institutions should not only generate knowledge through research but also share it through teaching and apply it through outreach and community involvement. He called for an education system that is inclusive and holistic, one that promotes access, equity, quality, affordability, and accountability while nurturing critical thinking, creativity, ethical values, and social responsibility. He identified transparent governance, functional autonomy, quality assurance, technology integration, and sustainable campus practices as key drivers of institutional advancement. In his closing remarks, Registrar Dr. Nisar Ahmad Mir described the workshop as a groundbreaking initiative for the University and expressed his satisfaction with the outcomes.
