Baramulla : Police on Monday seized four heavy sand-extraction motors worth approximately ₹2.5 lakh each, alongside smaller machinery, during a raid targeting illegal sand extraction from the River Jhelum in Baramulla.
In a statement issued here on Monday, Police said the operation was conducted under the supervision of DySP Headquarters Baramulla across the stretch from Veerwan–Pandith Colony to Sheeri New Police Station, in coordination with the Mining and Irrigation & Flood Control (I&FC) departments. Case FIR No. 166/2026 has been registered to investigate the illegal riverbed mining.
