Srinagar, Oct 8: PDP president Mehbooba Mufti on Thursday voiced support for B.Sc Forestry graduates protesting in Jammu and Kashmir, urging the government to review the eligibility criteria for recruitment to the posts of Forester and Range Officer.

In a post on X, Mehbooba said the students had been protesting for the past 17 days, including nine days on hunger strike, while awaiting a response from the authorities.

She said J&K’s forestry graduates were seeking recognition of their B.Sc Forestry degree for recruitment in the Forest Department and urged the government to address their demand.

“The J&K Government must review Forester & Range Officer eligibility criteria,” Mehbooba said.

She also appealed to the authorities not to ignore the students, saying those trained to protect the region’s forests should be heard without delay.
