Srinagar | Oct, 07: Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Wednesday met several delegations and individuals who raised issues concerning religious tourism, artisans, handloom sector and development of Baramulla.
Save Sharda Committee Chairman Ravinder Pandita, accompanied by Mahaveer Thusoo, called on the Lieutenant Governor and discussed the development of Maa Sharda Temple at Teetwal along the LoC in Kupwara. They also discussed promotion of border and religious tourism and enhancement of pilgrim facilities, including establishment of a Yatri Niwas at Teetwal. Pandita informed that footfall at the temple has crossed 10,000 this year.
A delegation of the Pashmeena Entrepreneurs Makers and Artisans (PEMA) Foundation, led by its President Tariq Dar and comprising Chairman Imran Rashid and Secretary Abdul Manan Baba, also met Sinha. The delegation expressed gratitude for the administration’s continued support to the Pashmina Artisan Awards and appreciated its efforts to promote J&K’s artisans and traditional craftsmanship.
Former Municipal Council Baramulla President Omar Kakroo called on the Lieutenant Governor and raised various developmental issues concerning Baramulla.
Later, a delegation of J&K Handloom Cooperative Societies and Weavers Association, headed by President Ghulam Jeelani Zargar, met Sinha and submitted a memorandum seeking dedicated measures for the growth and promotion of the handloom sector in Jammu and Kashmir.
