Srinagar : Authorities on Tuesday demolished an illegally constructed shed allegedly built by relatives of Parliament attack convict Mohammad Afzal Guru on state land in Baramulla district, officials said.
The structure, located on a flood basin in the Sopore area, was demolished during an anti-encroachment drive carried out by a team of the Revenue Department, they said.
According to officials, the shed had been constructed on state land in violation of government regulations.
The officials said family members of Guru had allegedly built and occupied the structure.
The demolition was carried out as part of the administration’s action against unauthorised constructions and encroachments on government land, officials said.
Guru was convicted in the 2001 Parliament attack case and was executed in February 2013.
Officials said the structure was removed after it was found to have been erected on government land and in an area identified as a flood basin.
