Srinagar : Ten-year-old Sara Bint Qaiser won the gold medal in the 10 Years Age Category at the Open Kashmir Hogam Championship 2026, held on October 6 and 7.

Sara represented Rainbow International School and Iron Fist Academy in the championship, which brought together athletes from different schools, academies and institutions across the Kashmir Valley.

Competing in the 10-year age category, Sara secured the top position in her event to claim the gold medal. Her performance added to the participation of young athletes in competitive sporting events being organised across the Valley.

The championship provided participants from different age groups an opportunity to compete and demonstrate their skills before fellow athletes and officials. It also gave young competitors exposure to organised competition and experience in handling competitive events.

Sara’s participation at the championship came as part of her training with Iron Fist Academy, while she represented Rainbow International School in the competition.

Her gold medal was welcomed by her family and representatives of the school and academy.

The championship also saw participation from athletes representing various institutions from across Kashmir, highlighting the involvement of children and young athletes in organised sports.

Organisers said such competitions provide athletes with opportunities to test their abilities, gain competitive experience and participate in events beyond their regular training environment.

The event concluded with the distribution of medals and recognition to participants who secured positions in their respective categories.
