Srinagar | October, 5: Jammu and Kashmir is likely to witness light snowfall and rain over higher reaches from October 6 to 10, the Meteorological Centre said.
According to the forecast, the Union Territory would experience thunderstorms, gusty winds, and scattered rainfall in the coming days.
The MeT department advised residents to ensure the safe storage of apples and paddy in view of the expected weather conditions. “From October 11 to 15 weather will remain partly cloudy,” the MeT stated.
Meanwhile, temperatures remained significantly above normal across several places in the region. Srinagar recorded a maximum temperature of 30.8 degrees Celsius, which was 5.3 degrees above normal, while the minimum settled at 12.3 degrees Celsius. Qazigund registered a maximum of 31 degrees Celsius, Pahalgam recorded 26.6 degrees Celsius, and Gulmarg touched 23 degrees Celsius. In Jammu, the maximum temperature reached 33 degrees Celsius with a minimum of 23 degrees Celsius. Reports said that no rainfall was recorded at any of the reporting weather stations during the period.
