DLSA Srinagar conducts Legal Awareness Progs at various Institutions

Srinagar : The District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) Srinagar, under the guidance of Naseer Ahmad Dar, Chairman District Legal Services Authority (Pr. District & Sessions Judge), Srinagar and overall supervision of the Secretary DLSA Srinagar, conducted a series of legal awareness programmes at various educational institutions and Legal Aid Clinics through the PLVs deputed there.

An awareness programme was conducted at Bilaliya School by the PLV deputed at the Legal Literacy Club, wherein students were sensitized about the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, 2012. The students were made aware of the safeguards available to children against sexual abuse and exploitation, besides the importance of reporting offences and seeking timely legal assistance.

At the Zoology Department, University of Kashmir, an awareness programme was organized by the PLVs deputed at the Legal Aid Clinic, at Law Department, on various NALSA schemes. The participants were informed about the objectives and benefits of different legal services schemes and the avenues available for persons seeking legal assistance.

An awareness programme was also conducted at Government Higher Secondary School, Kothibagh, by the deputed PLVs on Free Legal Aid and Social Welfare Schemes. The students were apprised of their legal rights, eligibility for free legal services and various welfare measures available through Government departments.

Further, at Kashmir Law College, an awareness programme regarding the functions and role of Legal Aid Clinics and Legal Literacy Clubs, along with the importance and availability of Free Legal Aid Services was conducted. The students were encouraged to utilize legal aid mechanisms and participate in legal literacy activities for promoting awareness and access to justice.

The programmes aimed at strengthening legal literacy among students and the public and creating greater awareness regarding their legal rights, entitlements and the services available through the Legal Services Authorities.
