Sinha recalls Gandhi’s message of truth, non-violence, self-reliance
Omar stresses peace, harmony, equality, human dignity
Srinagar :Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Thursday greeted the people of Jammu and Kashmir on the eve of Gandhi Jayanti and called for reaffirming the values of truth, non-violence, self-reliance and social harmony.
In his message ahead of Mahatma Gandhi’s 157th birth anniversary on October 2, Sinha said Gandhi’s ideals continued to guide humanity and inspire efforts towards peace and development.
“Pujya Bapu showed the world that truth, non-violence and self-reliance are eternal paths to peace,” Sinha said.
He said Gandhi’s principles of Satya, Ahimsa, Swadeshi, Swachhata and Sarvodaya continued to inspire the country’s growth and prosperity.
Sinha called upon people to pay tribute to Gandhi by committing themselves to his ideals and working towards building a peaceful and prosperous Jammu and Kashmir and a developed India.
LG pays tribute to Lal Bahadur Shastri
Sinha also paid tributes to former Prime Minister Lal Bahadur Shastri on the eve of his birth anniversary.
Describing Shastri as an embodiment of simplicity, honesty, integrity and patriotism, the LG said he was a strong and visionary leader who guided India towards self-reliance.
“His famous call, ‘Jai Jawan, Jai Kisan’, will always echo in our hearts and inspire future generations,” Sinha said.
He called upon people to rededicate themselves to Shastri’s ideals and serve the country with a selfless spirit.
Omar recalls Gandhi’s message of harmony
Chief Minister Omar Abdullah also extended greetings to the people of Jammu and Kashmir on Gandhi Jayanti and paid tribute to Mahatma Gandhi.
Omar said Gandhi’s enduring message of truth, non-violence, peace and communal harmony continued to inspire generations and remained relevant in the contemporary world.
“Gandhi Ji showed the world the strength of truth, non-violence and compassion. His life and ideals continue to inspire us to work for peace, harmony, equality and human dignity,” he said.
The Chief Minister said Gandhi’s vision of India was rooted in unity, tolerance and respect for all, adding that his teachings continued to offer guidance for building a peaceful and inclusive society.
He called upon people to draw inspiration from Gandhi’s life and reaffirm their commitment to peace, harmony and social solidarity.
