DC Anantnag reviews progress of SBM (G)

Anantnag| Sept, 28:In order to review the implementation and progress of the Swachh Bharat Mission (Gramin) in the district, Deputy Commissioner Anantnag, Dr. Bilal Mohi-Ud-Din Bhat, Monday chaired a meeting of the District Level Committee (DLC) on SBM (G) at the Meeting Hall of the DC Office Complex, Anantnag.
The meeting held a detailed review of various components of SBM (G), with particular focus on the status of works at different stages, including tendering, allotment and execution.
The Committee took a comprehensive assessment of the progress achieved so far and discussed measures to ensure timely implementation of the programme across the district.
During the meeting, the Committee was informed that more than 2,480 SBM (G) works have been taken up, out of which around 2,430 works have been tendered and more than 2,000 works are presently under execution.
The meeting also reviewed the Locational Plan under SBM (G) and deliberated upon measures for its effective implementation. The Committee considered the need for suitable locations for various sanitation-related works and accorded approval to the alternate Locational Plan to facilitate smooth execution of the approved works.
The issue of fixation of Door-to-Door user charges was also discussed in detail, with the Committee deliberating on measures to strengthen the sustainability and effectiveness of sanitation and waste-management services at the grassroots level.
The Deputy Commissioner directed the concerned officers to ensure timely execution and completion of all SBM(G) works while maintaining close and regular monitoring of progress at the field level. He stressed the importance of coordinated efforts among all stakeholders and strict adherence to the prescribed guidelines and quality standards for effective implementation of the programme.
The DC further called for identification and removal of bottlenecks affecting the pace of execution and directed the officers to take proactive measures so that the ongoing works are completed well ahead of the stipulated timelines.
He emphasized that effective implementation of SBM (G) requires sustained field-level supervision, inter-departmental coordination and timely resolution of issues so as to achieve the intended sanitation and cleanliness outcomes in rural areas of the district.
The meeting was attended by the Chief Planning Officer (CPO), Assistant Commissioner Panchayat (ACP), Executive Engineer, Rural Engineering Wing (REW) Anantnag, Chief Executive Officer, Municipal Council Anantnag, and all Block Development Officers (BDOs) of the district, besides other concerned officials.
