Shairbagh in Anantnag is a famous and beautiful park. It is situated in the main Anantnag town. It is also famous for religious concord. There is famous Mosque (Jamia- Ahlihadees) , Indra-Nag temple and Gurdwara Nanak Sahib. From last few years this famous park is losing its beauty. It may be due to negligence of people. Shairbagh can be restored, but it should be treated as a spring-and-water heritage restoration project, not simply as a normal park beautification project.Today many groups of people are thinking and talking about its restoration of beauty. The historical records are particularly useful: the National Mission on Monuments and Antiquities describes Shairbagh as a garden fed by the Anantnag spring, with mature Chinars. It identifies the wider Anantnag spring precinct as an 18th–19th-century heritage area.
How To Do Its Restoration| Restore The Springs First: Conduct a proper hydrological survey of every spring and water channel. Measure present discharge and compare it with old records/local memories. Identify where the natural flow is being blocked or diverted. Stop sewage, wastewater and solid waste from entering the spring system. Desilt the springs and remove invasive aquatic vegetation carefully. Do not simply cover the spring bottoms with modern tiles.
Bring Back The Clear-Water Appearance: A water-quality programme should include: regular testing for sewage contamination. prevention of Washing of clothes and other things must be done. detergent and wastewater discharge. Fish should not be introduced immediately. First make the water ecologically healthy; then aquatic life can return naturally or be reintroduced only after scientific assessment. Restore the famous swimming/water experience carefully. Historical accounts describe the main pond and channels as places where generations of local people swam.

Bringing Back Of Traditional Water-And-Garden Character Is Needed: The garden should be designed around water, Chinar trees, pathways and traditional Kashmir garden geometry, rather than as an ordinary modern park. Historic Kashmir gardens commonly used axial water channels, pools, cascades and tree-lined vistas. Keeping of part of the water body naturally planted is needed. Provide suitable habitat for indigenous freshwater fish after water quality is restored.
Protection Of Old Chinar Trees: The mature Chinars are one of the garden’s greatest assets. Conduct a professional health assessment of every old Chinar. Removal of dangerous dead branches carefully should be done. Addition of traditional flowering plants should be done in and around the parks.
Creation Of A Peaceful Walking Circuit Around The Parks Should Be Done: A continuous walking path could connect. Entrance → Chinar avenue → spring → water channel → main pond → garden → prayer/heritage area → exit. These steps can make Shairbagh an attraction without turning it into a commercial amusement park. Its greatest attraction should remain natural spring water + Chinars + traditional garden + peaceful atmosphere. If restoration is not done now, this famous and beautiful place may be lost forever.
