Distinguished alumni share professional experiences, insights with students
Srinagar, | Sept: 26::The “Alumni Back to Classroom (ABC)” Programme was successfully conducted today at the National Institute of Technology (NIT) Srinagar, providing a meaningful platform for distinguished alumni to reconnect with their alma mater, interact with students and share their professional experiences, insights and memories.
The programme was organised by the Office of the Dean, Alumni & International Affairs, NIT Srinagar, under the leadership of Prof. M. A. Shah, Dean (Alumni & International Affairs), and was coordinated by Er. Farhan Manzoor Shah, Additional Secretary, NIT Srinagar Alumni Association and ABC Coordinator.
The programme featured eminent alumni and accomplished professionals who interacted with students and shared valuable perspectives from their academic and professional journeys:
Er. Bharat Bhushan – Alumni of the 1977–82 Mechanical Engineering batch, who shared his professional experiences and reflections from his association with the Institute via an audio message.
Er. Sundeep Saxena – Alumni of the 1977–82 Mechanical Engineering batch, who interacted with students and spoke about the importance of learning, professional growth and maintaining a lifelong connection with one’s alma mater.
Dr.AhmadullahZahed – Associated with ICTP, Italy, who shared insights from his international academic and professional exposure and encouraged students to pursue excellence, innovation and wider opportunities.
Speaking on the occasion, Prof. M. A. Shah, Dean, Alumni & International Affairs, said that the Alumni Back to Classroom initiative is an important endeavour to strengthen the relationship between the Institute and its alumni. He emphasised that alumni are an invaluable source of knowledge, experience and inspiration for the present generation of students.
He said that such interactions enable students to learn not only from textbooks and classrooms but also from the real-life journeys, challenges and achievements of those who have walked the same corridors before them. He expressed his gratitude to the distinguished alumni for returning to their alma mater and contributing to the academic and professional growth of students.
Er. Farhan Manzoor Shah said that the ABC Programme is envisaged as a bridge between the Institute’s rich alumni community and its current students.
He highlighted that alumni engagement provides students with an opportunity to gain practical insights, mentorship and exposure to diverse professional journeys.
He expressed gratitude to the Institute administration, distinguished alumni, faculty members and students for their enthusiastic participation and support in making the programme successful.
Er Shah further stated that the initiative will continue to provide opportunities for alumni to “Connect, Mentor and Inspire”, thereby creating a stronger and more vibrant NIT Srinagar alumni network.
The interaction witnessed enthusiastic participation from students, who engaged with the speakers and benefited from their experiences and guidance.
The programme concluded with a vote of thanks to the dignitaries, distinguished alumni, faculty members, students and all those who contributed to its successful organisation.
The Alumni Back to Classroom Programme reaffirmed the enduring bond between NIT Srinagar and its alumni, while providing an inspiring platform for knowledge sharing, mentorship and meaningful intergenerational interaction.
