Srinagar : The Divisional Commissioner of Kashmir, Anshul Garg, conducted a thorough inspection of the 46-kilometre Srinagar Ring Road (SRR) Phase-I, focusing on the stretch from Galandar to Narbal.
Accompanied by Deputy Commissioners and various project stakeholders of Budgam and Pulwama in their respective jurisdictions, Garg assessed the project’s progress and identified challenges affecting its timely completion. The Project Director of NHAI reported significant advancements, including the completion of numerous infrastructure components such as culverts, bridges, and underpasses. During the inspection, Garg emphasized the need for KPTCL to expedite the erection of new transmission towers to minimize public inconvenience during the ongoing work. He also urged for an increase in workforce to adhere to project timelines and prioritized the bridge load testing with NIT to avoid delays. The Divisional Commissioner highlighted the importance of establishing road connectivity to key locations, including NIFT and the airport, through coordinated efforts among relevant authorities. Concluding the visit, Garg reiterated the goal of making the Phase-I stretch motorable by the end of December, responding to local representatives’ concerns for timely project completion. He confirmed that all issues related to land compensation and utility shifting have been resolved, and mentioned that a proposal would be developed to ensure Budgam town benefits from the SRR project.
