Baramulla, September 26: In a significant action against drug trafficking, Police in Baramulla intensified naka checking at Gantamulla, Sheeri, resulting in the recovery of 170 grams of suspected charas-like narcotic substance and the arrest of one accused person.
A Police spokesperson said that During naka checking at the Forest Check Post, Gantamulla, a vehicle bearing Registration No. JK05N-1869, travelling from Boniyar towards Baramulla, was intercepted. During checking, a suspected charas-like substance was recovered from the possession of the driver, identified as Javid Ahmed Parray son of Abdul Satar Parray resident of Pehlipora, Boniyar.
The recovered substance was subsequently weighed and found to have a net weight of 170 grams, while its gross weight, including the wrapping material, was approximately 210 grams. The suspected narcotic substance and the vehicle were seized as per law..
In this connection, FIR No. 47/2026 under Sections 8/20 of the NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Sheeri. The accused has been arrested and all requisite legal formalities have been completed. Investigation has been taken up to ascertain the source and intended destination of the recovered substance and identify any further links in the case.
Police reiterates its commitment to sustained action against drug trafficking and the drug menace, with continued efforts to disrupt the supply chain and bring those involved to justice under law.
