Baramulla : Police on Friday said that it has seized 11 vehicles for involvement in illegal mining activities and traffic violation in different parts of Baramulla district.
In a statement issued here on Friday Police said officers under Police Station Kunzer impounded 11 vehicles during naka checking. Six vehicles—including Tavera JK01BA-8406, Tavera JK01P-3134, Tavera PB01A-3112, Tavera JK01AB-1427, Maruti 800 JK01L-0936, and motorcycle JK01M-9154—were seized under Section 207 of the Motor Vehicles Act for lacking required documents. Additionally, Scorpio JK05N-9708, motorcycle JK01X-4267, Bolero JK01AB-2219, Scooty JK05L-5291, and motorcycle JK04G-3787 were cited for being driven without valid Registration Certificates and Driving Licences.
In the Gulmarg-Tangmarg area, checking was intensified against tourist overcharging, permit violations, and harassment, resulting in seven vehicles seized and five challaned—including JK05N-6429, JK05D-4515, JK05N-1502, JK13C-4852, JK05P-0482, KJ01AX-3022, JK05M-4709, JK01AA-8006, JK05M-4050, JK05E-2063, JK05P-9581, JK05J-9295, and an unpermitted domestic Scorpio. Furthermore, during a night check at Delina, police intercepted a tipper carrying illegal sand and confiscated a motor used for extraction under the Mines and Minerals (Development and Regulation) Act, reaffirming that strict action will continue against all violators.
