Udhampur, | Sept: 24:In compliance with the directions of the Member Secretary, Jammu & Kashmir Legal Services Authority, the District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) Udhampur Thursday convened a review meeting here in the Conference Hall District Court Complex to assess working of the Para Legal Volunteers (PLVs) and officials of the Tehsil Legal Services Committees (TLSCs) of Ramnagar, Majalta and Chenani.
The meeting was held under the guidance of Chairperson DLSA Udhampur and Principal District & Sessions Judge Kalpana Revo and under the overall supervision of Sub-Judge/Secretary DLSA Sumati Sharma.
The Secretary DLSA reviewed the progress of legal aid outreach, awareness programmes, beneficiary identification, case referrals and follow-up mechanis Discussions also focused on record keeping, timely reporting, capacity building, confidentiality, ethical conduct and effective coordination between PLVs and TLSC officials.
The PLVs and TLSC officials shared field experiences and highlighted challenges, including logistical constraints and gaps in community awareness, while suggesting practical measures to strengthen grassroots legal services.
The Secretary emphasized regular reporting, enhanced coordination and periodic capacity-building programmes, with special focus on vulnerable and marginalized sections of society. She also explained the distinction between pre-litigation and post-litigation matters, with practical examples and criteria for proper classification, emphasizing accurate completion of disposal sheets and timely submission of records to the J&K Legal Services Authority.
The meeting concluded with directions to prepare an action plan with defined timelines and responsibilities and to conduct periodic reviews for effective implementation and continuous improvement in legal aid delivery across the district.
